Happy Birthday J!!

To my sweet, sweet seven year old: Happy Birthday!

You have brought so much joy to our family from the moment you arrived! You were the best baby anyone could ask for. And you have grown into such a sweet, caring, intelligent young boy. I love watching you when you are determined to do your best . . . you are so focused. I love watching you helping your little brothers and playing with them, you are so good with them. I am so blessed to be your mom!

Wordless Wednesday - Life abounds

I feel like the song, "The Circle of Life" from The Lion King is playing as we walk in our backyard. Our yard is full of new life . . .

7 Quick takes

Here are my 7 quick takes: 1. WE ARE DONE!! The school year is officially over for us. We finished up homeschooling last week and last night I had our portfolio review . . . . summer can start now! 2. Had my second appointment with the Sports Chiropractor today . . . I felt like I got beaten up! I have tons of muscle imbalances, not to mention carrying kids on my hips has done some damage to the normal running motion that I should have. So, I go to this Dr. for chiropractic and physical therapy . . . all of this pain so I can run a marathon and inflict more pain on myself???? I guess to a sane person that may seem crazy!! 3. And yes, I am signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 31. I am running for our Archdiocese as part of the Run for Vocations team. More on that another time . . . 4. My husband and I are off on an exciting, romantic trip to Fl! Unfortunately, we will be in Fl for less than 24 hrs. We have been asked to be a part of a video on the blessings of children to a marr…

Have Hope

I am normally a very positive person. I try to be hope-full and joy-full most of the time. But if I spend any amount of time thinking about the direction our country is going in, our national debt, the Gulf Oil spill or any number of other things and I get full of despair and think the world is coming to an end.

The truth is, history is full of tragedy, natural disasters, horrible things. They will continue to happen. Many politicians will, unfortunately, continue to be corrupt. This is the country, the world, we live in.

But I am continually reminded to have hope. When I get down, when I wonder if it could possibly get any worse, I am reminded to pray.

A few years ago J got the book, Jacinta's Story for Christmas. The book is a story of one of the children of Fatima, who received apparitions of Mary, the mother of Jesus. The book does a great job of explaining the story so that kids can understand it, and this adult (me) got the message loud and clear too! Basically, Mary told the c…

Wordless Wednesday: Our trip to the park

Last week we went to the park . . . . . . and rode on the train
. . . and rode the Merry Go Round

. . . and took a hay ride . . . and then went to the "farm"

ZOOMA Annapolis 10K Race Report

This past Sunday I ran in the Zooma Annapolis 10K. I had originally registered for the half marathon, but several weeks ago switched down to the 10K due to shin splints. I was nervous to run this race because I have not run more than 3 miles at a time since the GW Parkway 10 miler in April and I had to stop running in May for three weeks due to the shin splints (and waiting for a Dr to tell me it was OK to run). I can be very stubborn and I had planned on participating in this race even if I had to walk the whole thing. I figured that since I already paid for it, I was going to do it.

The sports chiropractor I saw on Thursday gave me the OK to continue running as long as I used the Jeff Galloway method, so I was set! I let go of any sort of time goal and just set my sights on finishing pain free.

I went to packet pick up Saturday and was surprised at how easy it was. Plus, I thought the bag that the bib and timing chip came in was cute! There were not tons of vendors, but since this was…
